Homebound

Caged in Sunlight: Dhaka, Bangladesh
As many of you may know, I am going back to the motherland, Bangladesh, in a few days. It has been only one and a half years since my last trip back home, but that's 545 days spent eight thousand miles away from home, and that's 545 days too many. I am exhausted from this semester and I cannot wait to go back home.

I will be in Bangladesh for 3 weeks this time, and it is winter in BD, which means the weather is beautiful and it is the prime traveling time. I will be traveling around the country quite a bit, and I am starting this blog as a memoir but also as a shameless promotion of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is not nearly as popular of a tourist destination as its neighboring country, India, which means parts of Bangladesh still offers the off the beaten path traveling experience. Part of the motivation for writing this blog also comes from an urge to change the stereotype that surrounds Bangladesh and South Asia in general. Hopefully, this blog will help alleviate the notion that all of South Asia is represented through Slumdog Millionaire or Apu:)

I will be leaving for Bangladesh on Christmas Eve, so stay tuned for some mediocre shots and even more mediocre blog posts. Follow me @ IG: followmearound.motherland for more! (I also post memes)
